Transparency Starts with Us

At GC Footwear, we produce in-house – from material selection and prototype development to storage, assembly, printing, embossing, laser processing, and CNC milling. Our processes also cover color management, quality control, order picking, customs clearance, and packaging. This allows us to maintain full control, respond flexibly to customer requests, and continuously improve our products. There is no standing still at GC Footwear.

Insights into our processes show how closely development, production, and quality are intertwined – turning ideas into real innovations.

Partnerships on Equal Terms

“We have been working with the same suppliers for many years and know our partners personally. Long-term collaboration provides both us and our customers with production security and transparency, for example in the verified recycling of EVA and PVC used in the production of slippers, clogs, and flip-flops. Trust is built through proximity – that’s why we are on-site and see for ourselves.”

– M. Eylers, Managing Director, GC Footwear GmbH

    Natural Rubber

For our flip-flops, we blend natural rubber with EVA – combining flexibility, durability, and comfort with a share of renewable raw materials. Better for wearing – and better for peace of mind.

  • Ein großer schwarzer Sack, gefüllt mit buntem Plastik-Granulat.

    Waste

In production, EVA scraps are generated – for example, when punching holes. These scraps don’t end up in the trash: we collect them from the floor, clean, and reprocess them. This creates new EVA sheets and soles – conserving resources and keeping materials in a closed loop.

    Active Sourcing

What is considered waste elsewhere becomes a raw material with us. Our partner actively purchases sole and material offcuts from other productions – even from major brands – and processes them further. The scraps are shredded and transformed into new EVA material. Less waste is created – and more value.

    Cut-Off Recycling

When punching flip-flop soles from EVA sheets, scraps are left behind – like baking cookies. We collect these punching leftovers, melt them down again, and process them into new material. Almost nothing goes to waste – except less trash and more sustainability.

    Slipper Embroidery

Our slippers and hotel slippers are embroidered directly in the shoe factory – not at an external supplier. This saves steps, time, and coordination loops. It keeps us close to production, allows us to respond faster, and ensures more efficient delivery – without any detours.

    Production Scraps

Small remnants, such as sprues or overflows, occur at the material inlets during injection molding. Our partners collect these directly at the machine, still during production. This way, no material is lost, and everything that remains flows back into the recycling loop.

    Recycling

Leftover material is sent to a rolling mill: two large rollers press the scraps into a homogeneous mass, which is then processed into new sheets – optionally blended with natural rubber. Dark scraps are used for dark products, while lighter ones are preferred for new colors.

    Screen Printing Line

Whether sneakers, slippers, or flip-flops – on our screen printing line, every upper gets its individual look. Logos, slogans, or full-surface designs: whatever our customers want, we apply directly to the material. For products as unique as the brand behind them.

Initiatives by GC Footwear

At GC Footwear, we take responsibility seriously. Some of the sustainability initiatives we undertake include: recycling of printing and material offcuts through our partner FastFeetGrinded, use of Oeko-Texinks and green electricity in production, REACH testing of our partners’ products by TÜV Rheinland or Bureau Veritas, regular on-site audits of our external production partners, use of sustainable packaging such as LDPE and PLA bags made from cornstarch, FSC Mix cardboard sleeves, shipping via DHL GoGreen, and participation in the Green Dot program. Additionally, we commit to the GWW code of conduct against discrimination and for equality.

Our Materials

At GC Footwear, we focus on carefully selected, certified materials. For our fabrics, we use only yarns certified to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and Oeko-Tex-certified inks from Epson for printing. The soles are made from materials such as recycled EVA, TPR, TPU, classic EVA, cork, and natural rubber from FSC-certified sources. This is complemented by nonwoven fabrics and polyester. Our packaging solutions include FSC Mix-certified paper for sleeves and biodegradable PLA bags made from cornstarch. This way, we combine functionality, quality, and responsibility – step by step.

Together for Tomorrow

State of Tyrol: Sustainability to Go

The State of Tyrol deliberately chose to have their flip-flops manufactured and printed in Berlin – short distances, full transparency. The packaging was also designed to match: an eco-friendly cardboard sleeve. The flip-flops were then distributed at tourist hotspots across the region – making a statement for sustainable regional production, Made in the EU.

Sustainability

Sustainability in Every Detail – Organic Socks for NETTO

For a POS campaign with the grocery retailer NETTO, we produced sustainable socks from certified organic cotton – high-quality, skin-friendly, and environmentally conscious.

The packaging: a minimalist cardboard tag made from recycled paper – completely plastic-free and in NETTO’s design. Sustainability was also considered during shipping: the entire delivery was CO₂-compensated, using climate-friendly logistics partners and consolidated shipping.

A project that shows: sustainability works even on a large scale.

Consistently Sustainable – Flip-Flops for Neptunbad Cologne

Neptunbad is one of Germany’s leading thermal baths – and sets a good example when it comes to sustainability. For their in-house flip-flops, the team deliberately chose straps made from natural rubber – durable, high-quality, and significantly more sustainable than conventional PVC. Although production is more complex and costly, quality and environmental friendliness are the top priorities.

Neptunbad also took a new approach to packaging: initially using biodegradable PLA bags made from cornstarch. In a further step, they reduced it even more – to simple cardboard sleeves made from recycled paper.

Less plastic, more commitment – a strong sustainability approach from Cologne.

Sustainability in Everyday Hotel Life – Nesslerhof Leads the Way

For the family-run 4-star superior hotel Nesslerhof in Salzburg, it quickly became clear: single-use products don’t fit their philosophy. That’s why they chose our FIOUS Weave model – a hotel slipper that can be washed and reused. Thanks to the durable material and dark color choice, the slipper still looks well-kept and high-quality even after multiple washes.

To fully implement the reusable concept, Nesslerhof additionally ordered four cardboard sleeves per pair, allowing the slippers to be repackaged after washing.

Reusable instead of disposable – sustainably designed, practically implemented.
